SRS (Air Bag) Lamp[740-760/1988] posted by Gary Learned on

Anyone know whether there is a 10 year clock on the SRS warning lamp circuit of an '88 760 Turbo? I see a note in the owner's manual that the system should be checked after 10 years, and at 10 years since birth (give or take a month or so), the SRS lamp on the warning panel lit up and now stays on anytime the key is in the "run" position. Was the 10 year birthday of the car a coincidence or what? If there is a 10 year clock, how do you reset the lamp?

TIA

There is no 10 year clock. The 10 year warning is for the bag itself and it has been extended to 15 years. There is a finite lifespan for the propellant used to inflate airbag and they have determined it is still effective to 15 years, it might even be longer than that.
The light is on due to the SRS control unit detecting a fault in system.
It will have to be diagnosed by someone that is quailified to repair such systems.
