Sacramento Chapter: Sept. 27, 2008 Amador Co. Wine Tour and Picnic

Hi Everyone,

The Sacramento Chapter's third event of the year is a scenic drive from Sacramento to the Amador County foothill wineries and we invite you to join us!

When:
Saturday, September 27, 2008

Meeting points:
1. 9:30A
In Elk Grove at the
Sloughhouse Inn Parking Lot
12700 Meiss Rd. (on Jackson Rd./Hwy 16)
Elk Grove, CA 95624
-or-
2. 10:15A
In Plymouth at the
Plymouth Post Office
9477 Main St.
Plymouth, CA 95669
Across the street from the
Incahoots BBQ restaurant
9486 Main St.
Plymouth, CA 95669

We will look for you if we know you are coming.
Call five3zero-9five7-zero0six8 (Wally’s cell) if you are running late or are lost!
Warning: Cell reception is iffy in the foothills

Tentative Plan for the Day:
-Leave from Plymouth at 10:30 a.m.
-1st Stop at Villa Toscano http://www.villatoscano.com
-Next stop at Shenandoah Vineyards http://www.sobonwine.com
-Picnic at Montevina/Terra d’Oro (possible winery tour if our timing is right)
http://www.montevina.com/directions.html
Either bring your own lunch or purchase something at the Deli at Villa Toscano.
-Amador Flower Farm (Alternate spot for picnic) http://www.amadorflowerfarm.com
-Bella Piazza Winery (if time permits) http://www.bellapiazzawinery.com

There are over 30 wineries in Amador Co. We have chosen just a few for you to sample. They do not charge for tasting. Some have barrel tasting and sell futures. All have restrooms, beautiful grounds, lots to see and plenty of shopping.

The Flower Farm specializes in Daylilies. Stroll though the grounds or sit in the shade of the oaks or look for the frogs in the pond.

September is not the high season in this part of the foothills, so we shouldn’t have lots of competition for parking spots.

Detailed directions will be available at the meeting places or a week before the drive by sending an e-mail to Wally & Marcia Russell at:

Check the web sites for our planned stops to learn more about what is in store for us on September 27, 2008.

If you are in the area, we hope to see you there!

Also stay tuned for our next events (we'll post more details as the plans are finalized):
-Technical session at Sacramento's Volvo Service (SVS), possibly followed up with a visit to area pick-n-pull(s).

If you'd like to be added to the Sacramento Chapter's e-mail list, please let me know and I'll either provide you with the President's contact information or pass your contact information along.

We do not have a website yet, but are looking to get one. If you're a web site designer and would like to help, let us know.

Take care.
