Bellhousing/transmission

What would you recommend? I will be swapping a 350 sbc into a 1990 740 SE turbo. I currently have an M21 (close ratio) but I am thinking of selling it to get a T5 instead. My engine put out about 380hp. Can a "good" T5 handle the torque? I would prefer a T5 because of the overdrive obviously, but also because the shifter bolts up on top, centered on the tailshaft. The M21's shifter is of to the side and I think that would interfere with the center console inside the car. As for the bellhousing, would you recommend a '84-'88 Corvette bellhousing or a regular bellhousing with a hydraulic throughout bearing such as a Howe or McCleod?
