Thank you Klause for this reply and others. You've given me the facts to think about stuff for the past three or four years now

I always disconnect the drive shaft so that the transmission doesn't spin without its oil pump on because I had planned to tow the front wheels up only with a dolly. This is a four wheel drive so it has more weight. The year 89 truck was sitting in a barn with 7000 miles on it when I inherited it a few years ago. I think I'll just caravan the truck. I hate to burn the gas but tail wagging scares me. I read an LA Times exposé on U-Haul and the disasters that it is part of when people unknowingly tow things equal to the weight of the car doing the pulling
