Gasoline vapor rectangular cannister routing found but, 850

Klaus,

Are you talking about the lines that run all the way from the tank up to the engine bay? If so, and if a 1999 V70 is the same, here is what I can see on mine. Under the passenger’s front seat floorboard there is a plastic holder under the car that I think was screwed to the floor from inside the cabin. I believe this plastic piece has snap open/close gates to guide the hoses. The reason I am vague about this part is that I caught mine on something and broke it so I don’t have a good example to view.

From this location the smaller line goes under the anti-sway bar, and there is a clip to hold it just forward of the anti-sway bar. The clip is above the metal so that the line is protected from the road. It continues forward under the steering rack, and about midway between the steering rack and the oil filter there is another clip on the edge of the subframe. From there it turns up just next to the oil filter on the outboard side of the filter. Sorry, but after that I can’t see what it does without my ramps, and I already have a dead Benz on the ramps.

The larger line goes above the sway bar and steering rack on the passenger (right) side. Just about at the point that the line becomes easily visible in the engine bay I think it is supposed to go into a clip that would occupy a hole in some body structure (painted body color). This hole is easily visible in mine, but there is no clip. However, as I said, mine got yanked on and I probably lost that clip. From there it ties to a metal line.

I was unable to actually find the charcoal canister in mine, so perhaps none of this info is of any use to you. I wasn’t sure if you meant the vent line or the line that runs from the canister to the vacuum source. If you need that info, and if you think it would be the same on mine, and if you can tell me how to find the C canister, I can look. Yes, I know that’s a lot of ifs!

Charley
