The OP wasn't so concerned about rear pads wearing, but the right rear inner pad dissolving long before the other rear pads. This is a Volvo problem due to the parking brake motor not releasing the pad enough.
Miles driven have nothing to do with brake pad wear. When I drive from here to Chicago or Denver, I hardly use the brakes. Also, I no longer commute and get stuck in slow bumper to bumper traffic. My current brake pads have 110K miles on them and there is a lot of pad left.
