Sunroof Leaking S40-V40 2001

Hello,

The sunroof on my 2001 S40 leaks occasionally. I have visually inspected the seals myself and they seem to be in good shape. The rubber is still soft. When it rains, the water accumulates on the front left and right corners between the roof lining and the front of the sunroof. I usually get a wet surprise when I take a corner. The odd thing is that it does not seem to be consistent. One it rained all day, and the corners were bone dry. The worst do far was today; it rained all day and the car was parked on a steep inclined driveway (nose first). As soon as I backed out of the driveway a good 50ml of water came drooping onto my head.

Has anyone had any experience with leaky sunroofs? Any idea on what to inspect/replace?

Thank you all!
Anthony

Anthony,

You might check to see if the drain tubes in your sunroof are plugged allowing the water to pool up.

You should be able to see the drain holes in the corners of the fully open sunroof.

Thanks Miker,
I checked the drain tubes and they seem to work well. I dumped water along the space in front of the wind flap and the water drained down immediately (right down and out from under the car). It looks like there are calcium deposits (from water) on the inner part of the seal along the glass, but other than that everything else looks fine. Do you know where else the water may be entering/accumulating? I will try a bigger water test with the roof closed as soon as I have some time.

Thanks, many times
Anthony
