Cabin Filter Replacement Question S70

I was about to order a cabin filter and noticed I had a couple of choices (pls see below). My car has a hint of a dog oder so I am favoring the charcoal option. Sound reasonable? Do I also need to buy the retainer? It's my first time replacing this filter.

Cabin Filter Replacement Question S70

The cabin filter is for fresh air only. It will not filter interior cabin smells. Vacuum your carpets and use Atmosklear, a non-perfume odor eliminator on the carpets. If you park in a garage at home, leave your window rolled down at nights to help the car air out.

You don't need the retainer...that's to add a filter to an 850 that didn't have one in it to begin with. Yours does. Your only real choices are the charcoal filter or the regular one. Look at a few other places to order from. There are better deals out there (though by not much). www.fcpgroton.com and www.borton.com come to mind.

Someone mentioned a while back (wish I'd written the # down) that one of the standard Purolator air filter fits the 850/V70 filter retainer with a little trimming and costs a lot less.

But if there's a dog smell, I'd go with the charcoal one. Look on eBay...sometimes someone is selling one of these at a great price.
