BTCC racing 850 5 cylinder camshafts?

Hi forum,

Does anyone know the specs for the BTCC racing 850 5 cylinder engines?

Or better yet, know where I could purchase a set of these camshafts?

Cheers,

BTCC racing 850 5 cylinder camshafts?

good luck..they only made a handfull of those engines and from what i heard at the time they were pretty special.....and its a long time ago....they may have looked like 850's but im willing to bet they were substantially different fro manything that hit the road.... i saw a documentary of the sierra'sthat andy rouse preped fro ford atthe time and they dropped the engine height 6" and layed it over backwards to improve the c of g!

The bill for tha sierra was i nthe region of £250k (circa $500k) at then date prices....pretty damn special!

Yup Thanks.

I have found that same info on the web too .... I trolled the web for many nights first before I posted on the forum (I dont like asking dumb questions)

One thing I have not found is even the spec (even approximations) for the camshafts duration and lift!? Even if I could get these it may be enough to go to my camshaft guy and start welding / grinding a set ................

Please, some one out there in Volvo-land must know something!

Cheers.

very much doubt anyone does...the cars were preped by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) who did the engine work in house and organisations like that tend to keep stuf to themselves (afterall its how they win!) - you could always try emailing them?

I was looking for the proper TWR web-site and / or e-mail address and did not have much identifying what is the TRUE TWR!!?? I even e-mailed the Steff .... people in sweden and they did not have any spec for me ...

This may remain one of lifes unsolved problems ...... 'How do we get over 290HP from a 850 5-cylinder naturally-asspirated.'
