'01's and some early '02's were designed to go into neutral at stop. So, punching the accelerator actually forces it into gear...thus the jerking. The software download keeps it from going into neutral. Try this...don't use your foot brake, but instead your emergency, hand brake at stop. Now let up on the hand brake and hit the gas. Is there still the jerking forward? The hand brake without holding the brake down with your foot keeps it in gear. This will tell you if you had one of the '01 engine/tranny set-ups, and therfore in need of the download. Volvo evidently was trying to by "kind" to the environment with this "ground-breaking" idea to conserve gas and emmisions...problem is that most owners didn't like the jerking forward either and have complained until Volvo came up with a solution...it's a well known issue.
I just re-read your last post. From second gear, the problem does not sound like the above....could be the ETM. Do you have any codes?
