Transmission V70-XC70 2002

Just purchased a CPO with 59k miles. At first I had not noticed these tranny quirks:

1- When you drop the tranny into D, I have what appears to be an extended time (3-5 seconds) delay before it engages. and out of habit, I've already have started to step on the accelerator. The result is like what I would relate to doing a "Hole-Shot", jerking everyone in the car... Not to impressive

2- After in gear and giving only a small amount of acceleration I get a kind of jerking forward motion. Kind of if I had a clutch and kept engaging and dis-engaging repeatitly.....

Thanks

Kevin

Talk to your dealer...I believe there's a software download to get rid of the lag on your model.

Would it also effect:

Thanks

'01's and some early '02's were designed to go into neutral at stop. So, punching the accelerator actually forces it into gear...thus the jerking. The software download keeps it from going into neutral. Try this...don't use your foot brake, but instead your emergency, hand brake at stop. Now let up on the hand brake and hit the gas. Is there still the jerking forward? The hand brake without holding the brake down with your foot keeps it in gear. This will tell you if you had one of the '01 engine/tranny set-ups, and therfore in need of the download. Volvo evidently was trying to by "kind" to the environment with this "ground-breaking" idea to conserve gas and emmisions...problem is that most owners didn't like the jerking forward either and have complained until Volvo came up with a solution...it's a well known issue.

I just re-read your last post. From second gear, the problem does not sound like the above....could be the ETM. Do you have any codes?
