Hello,

My battery went dead yesterday. New batteryin place and car is happy.

But I want to know how long the ALTERNATOR lasts.

Could you folks share your experience (what year and mileage your alternator said good-bye to you?)?

My 98 S70 has 170,000 miles and the original alternator is now roaring, but still working. I will need to replace very soon.

'96 850 with 113k miles and original alternator seems to be going strong.

Hi, I drive a 1998 S70 N/A. It has 86k miles & im still on the original alternator.

4 Cars with somewhat similar Bosch alternators:

164E 1972 replaced at about 150K miles due to bad diode
240GL 1985 never replaced in 200K
Saab 900S 1981 never replaced >220K
850 1995 original in place at 130K

'83 245 DL 170k miles and it finally died the other day
'95 850 wagon 123k and still alive
'98 XC 122k and still alive
