Transmission again? 850 1995

I have a '95 855T. I bought the car with 69k miles on it about 2.5 years ago. September of '04 the transmission went up with about 90k miles on it and I had it replaced with a factory rebuilt transmission. It cost about $3000 and came with a 12 month warranty. Here I am 2 months after the warranty has expired and 100k miles on my car and I am told that my transmission is bad again. My mechanic has put a call into Volvo to see if they can not extend the warranty. I'll probably know something tomorrow. Obviously, I'm extremely bummed. I definitely drove the car hard in the beginning, but once I had the tranny replaced a year ago I've taken it easy. Am I just extremely unlucky? Anyone ever have to replace their transmission twice?

-Rob

P.S. If Volvo does not cover the part, I'm kicking the 850 to the curb.

It would be nice if the factory covered you, but don't count on it. The tranny was the weak point on 850s. In 1997 the tranny got a little better, so if you get a newer one, get a 1997.
If you have to replace the tranny, find a reputable junk yard and have your mechanic install it in your car. Our upper midwest yard in Wisconsin has them for $300-400, tested.
Remember, never put it in drive from reverse if the car is still rolling, even a little bit. That also includes the 1997 version.

Volvo ought to go the distance for you on this one. Claim that you were having slippage or something BEFORE the 12 months was up but you didn't have time to deal with it. I don't know. See what they say first, I suppose.
