ABS Module Leak - What to Replace? 850

I have a brake fluid leak, and it seems to originate fron the lower part of the ABS unit (below the part where all hoses are screwed in). I read on BB that the unit needs to be replaced, but I have some questions:

- Do I need to replace EVERYTHING or only the bottom part? I have not seen these disassembled, so I do not know how it comes apart.
- Is this s DIY job? I replaced timing belts, water pumps, etc on my own. If yes, I would be very grateful if I get some instructions.

Thank you,
Yuri

ABS Module Leak - What to Replace? 850

If you need the pump and not the electronic module, I have a spare one that came with the electronic module.

ABS Module Leak - What to Replace? 850

    What year is your 850?
93-95 models had a problem with leaky seals, lots of $$$$$$$$$ to replace. Clean it very well to make sure is the ABS hydraulic unit the one leaking and not one of the lines.
96-97 models are not known for leaking, I have a few of these units.

ABS Module Leak - What to Replace? 850

This a 1995 model. The wet part is on the bottom, where the hoses are screwed in. I will try to tighten them. So the 96-up units are different from 95? I may end up buying one fron junk yard, so this would be important to know.

Leaking brake FLUID, not electrons? Maybe the ABS PUMP? 850

May be the ABS pump, try a Brickboard search. If is IS the ABS pump, you're not gonna like what the replacement cost of a new one from Volvo is.

I think I read of it being (somewhat) cheaper from the Volvo recyclers like Erievovo.com

There are also several of the pumps on e-bay now.

    Sorry.
