loose driver seat 850R 850 1997

the drivers seat seems to have about 1/8" of play in it. i hear a clunk noise from the seat when i accelerate/stop/slow down/and or make a turn. the seat is bolted securely to the floor and my seat back moves flawlessly when i change the seat settings. what is causing this noise? i read on the board that it could be a shock absorber i am suppose to install but i heard it wont fix it long term. anyone else having this problem?

its only the driverseat.

I think there is a modification kit for this fault. As usual ££££$$$$$$$ from the stealer.
