I have a flashing up arrow, check engine light on and car starts out in high gear. Tranny always flushed every 30K with Mobil 1. I know there have been posts on this, but search engine doesn't find them. Any help appreciated, haven't been to Autozone to pull the code yet.

It's a stuck gear sensor. These things occur pretty frequently in the 93 850s but not so much in the 96. Have it replaced, shouldn't cost more than 200 at the Stealer.

Thanks, I did check Bay 13 and this sounds very much like a bad PNP--will pull the codes first and if it isn't the PNP code, I'll check out your suggestion. Been suspicious of it for a while because of a few intermittant problems (wouldn't start until I 'raked' the shift lever).
