Dash rattle 850 1997

How do you fix dash rattles? My dash has a high pitched sqeak and rattle that sound as if something has either snapped or come loose from the right side of the radio to the passenger door. The left side of the dash is clamp tight. This is the only thing on this whole car that rattles and it drives me up the wall.

I've owned this car from new at 82 miles and it now has 111,000.
Are there any fixes?

Thanks,
Rick '97 850-R

I found an annoying squeak/rattle in my '97 850R caused by instrument cluster removal. Turns out the IPD cluster removal procedures (only loosen half the dash pad) caused cracks the plastic deck directly above the center A/C vents. Overzelous use of plastic epoxy cured the problem.

Of course I've owned enough Volvos to know that you can't get every rattle...

    Good luck.

I've read here where there are some screws below the windshield under the windshield wiper motor cover that can be tightened to solve dash rattling.

Is it the glove box, or the glove box door? Have someone listen to those specific parts. If it is, some felt piece you stick to the feet of furniture work well. If it is deeper, then from the air filter location (you'll have to pull the cowl completely up and off, so take all the torx screws out) you can see where the dash attaches to the firewall. From that side (under the hood) you can tighten these...but don't tighten too much....they can snap off as the anchors are plastic. Best way is to have someone push the dash towards the front of the car from the inside as you tighten things down from the outside. It is hard to explain, so you will have to just get in there and see what I'm talking about.
