Manual seat recliner - can it be tightened? S60 2001

I have a base model S60 without a power seat. The driver's seatback keeps reclining further than I'd like. If I reach in and thump the seatback, the recliner knob turns backward with the seat. I am re-adjusting the recliner at least a couple of times a day.

I've tried to determine if there's a centre cap in the knob that I can remove to tighten something in behind, but the knob seems to be a one piece moulding. Does anyone have some information for me? It would be great to have a quick fix, since we're heading south for a vacation early next week.

Thanks.

Forgive me for answering without seeing your car. If your seatback adjustment knob I one of those large round things with knobby edges, then the entire center is the center piece. The 240 seats look the same way. I had to dig around with a pocket knife when I found the nearly invisible seam. The center piece is a pressure fit cap with about 1/8in lip. Then you can just tighten the bolt.

Klaus,

Thanks for the response. I had another go with pocket knife, but I still can't find the seam. The S60 knob gives the appearance of having a smaller centre cap, and a larger cap closer to the size of the cap shown my old 740 Haynes manual.

The S60 may be set up the same, but so far I'm just chewing up the plastic, first with a small screwdriver, and now with an old pocketknife. So, no offense intended, but I think I need to wait for someone with firsthand experience with this one.
