Low Pressure Turbo bearings? S70

Would bad turbo bearings sound like marbles in a tin can? When cold and I accelerate from a stop I'm getting quite a rattle. If the bearings are bad are changing them a DIY project?

    You might be more likely hearing knock. Is your knock sensor bad? Does it do it with premium fuel? You also may have something rattling but turbo bearing don't sound like that.

    Are you sure its not a heatshield rattling around ? I would suspect that if a turbo bearing was worn enough, to sound like a tin can full of marbles, the impeller vanes would hit the housing and cause an awful screeching sound as they ground themselves to stubs.
