I just installed an air compressor oil trap/filter in the hose from the oil trap to the non-flame trap (turbo model). On short trips it fills with water/blowby rather rapidly. On longer trips I guess it burns some off and does not fill as quickly per miles driven. This has solved my dingy blowbyish dip stick stuff and do not notice any yellowish condensation type oil by my oil filler. Also my engine leaks oil no more. which would come out of the intercooler/aftercooler hoses. you know the Big ones.

Do you drain it after a run or does it empty itself? How is it powered, if powered at all? Last of all, since it's condensation accumulation, how do you deal with really cold (sub-degree) temperatures to keep it from freezing?

You have to drain it. very stinky .. No Power. it works by the engine vacume.
Under the distributor cut the hose from the stock oil trap run a piece of hose to the new trap out the new trap back into the hose you cut which goes to the (flame trap). Which is not what they call it on a Turbo.

Seems a nipple could be installed that will allow the water to drain after it gets full...may be a mess, so a hose between the engine and firewall down to under the car would be a good idea, I would think. Once it drains, the nipple seals back up so you don't loose any vacuum. I would hate to forget to drain it and so it this were automatic, that would be an excellent feature.

It's a craftsman (Sears) any one will do. I would go bigger or hook up a vacum sealed extra resevour. Emailed you photo's hope it works. I don't know how to post photos yet.

You do all of these neat things! Posting pics is easy, just create a pic on your pc that is smaller than 60Meg (or is it K?). then copy it to the image library.
A filter for the PCV hose????? I like the trapping water part.

Ok I'll do some pics tommorrow. I got to go to bed. Observation: It's -2 here in Chicagoland, Seems the water in the trap is a slushy. I don't know how good this is? Car still runs . Talk to you guys Saturday.

1973 same thing, second generation. Thanks I guess you should Email me if we are not talking about Volvo's. My first one was a 1971 Cracked it in half on a light pole. Stopped drinking since then.
