New to the board, hello everyone! 850

Just got a '97 850 4 dr, 88k miles for my wife. I have been driving BMW's for a few years, currently a '92 525iTa, '99 M3 coupe, '85 K100RS, '96 Ducati 900SS/SP. My wife also rides, '94 K75S. Oddly enough, the BMW bikes are known as "flying bricks", due to the engine configuration. I haven't wrenched professionally since the 1970's, but still do most of my own work. I am looking forward to sharing info with this group.

Welcome aboard. Like any vehical they have their small glitches, but powertrains especially engines are virtually bullet proof. We have 7 volvos in my extended family, with over 1.1 million miles (between all 7). All with original trannys, engines, alternators, waterpumps etc....and no rust. Not bad for being in a harsh climate like NH.

Good luck

J-

Welcome aboard! You'll be able to get back into wrenching with the 850...it's very easy to work on for the most part. Get parts for less at www.fcpgroton.com and buy a Haynes manual for it. Other than that, check in here and most if not all of your questions can be answered.

Welcome. These cars are special. I bought a 95 850 turbo for my daughter, I thought she would hate it. I wanted her safe. Wierd thing she loves it. Go figure! My 94 850 turbo has 320,000 miles my wife says, "why don't you buy a new car." I can't I Love this thing. Do all my own wrenching, it it easy to work on. Hayes manual very good. Volvo manual on the engine management, I feel is a must for $25.00 . Chilton is worthless to me. Remove engine to install reverse engine removal. DUHH! Once again WELCOME ABOARD.
