'01 c70 convertible hesitating after spark plugs were changed

I changed my spark plugs all 5 on thursday 3/9 and the car drove good LONG distance over 200 miles over the course of the weekend and then last night I was driving down my ave and sure enough it hesitated I was going around 30-40 mph. Should I change my fuel filter? Any thoughts.

MG~

Fuel filter change will not solve the problem, but it won't hurt either.
Try flushing the transmission with new Dextron and drive around the cities in 3 instead of D.

Klaus, I have been waiting for you to weigh in..

The fuel filter was another suggestion from a volvo owner, actually on this site. I will get my neighbor to do the fuel filter, this week when he is fixing my front breaks. Hesitation has only happened once since the plugs..pls note that I did put fuel cleaner in with my gas, I am not sure if that is what you mean by the new dextron, perhaps where i purchase gas it is dirty? Question about this 3rd gear.. I dont have a stick but I am sure you know that already, when i put the car in 3rd there is an arrow that lights up on my dash board the same arrow that lights up when I put it into (W) winter package for icey roads. Is that a problem? or dont worry and just drive.

      Mandy~

The "shift up" arrow will come on as a reminder if you have it in L or 3 or "M". No harm. You have a very high performance car and driving around the city at 30-40 mph in D is too slow for the engine. I suggest you drive it in 3 to help keep the engine turning fast enough to keep the sludge from forming. When you get out of the city and on the expressways, by all means, shift to Drive to save gas.
If the shift arrow blinks, that means something is wrong with the tranny.

When I mentioned flushing the transmission, have your neighbor check the color of the fluid on the tranny dip stick. It should be red ish, not dark brown. If he doesn't know how to flush a Volvo transmission, have him get back on this board and we will help. It's easy to do.

Ok i will try third gear as you suggest in areas where i am doing 30-40mph. My neighbor said that my fluid looked good last he looked and he didnt think i needed to change it when i mentioned the new dextron. He is doing my breaks this week I will ask him to pls look again and make sure it is redish in coloration.

If the transmission fluid is brownish, I will get back on here and ask you how to walk him thru it, he is not computer savvy...sort of like me with this car... :o)

Pls note that the plugs are bosch not volvo (oem). Is that a bad thing?

Tks Klaus, I greatly apprecaite your knowledge and help.

Which plugs did you install? Hope not the Bosch Platinums...if you did, I would swap them out for Volvo OEM plugs or Bosch copper's. There have been a lot of issues with the plats.

Are you sure its not your Electronic Throttle Module on the way out? Seems like I've seen this story on the board before.
