IS what I am seeing bad?? 850

I am looking at a 850 turbo R. 96 model, 129K in excellant condition, but.... there are 2 things that caution me about the car. First is that it looks like oil has backed up the dip tube. There is a oil residue around the outside of the dipstick. The other issue is oil seepage from around one of the turbo tubes. Its coming from around the hose. Not sure what tube it is..if you look down right behind the throttle cable there is hose/tube that goes down toward the transmission. One other thing, the fan motor seems weak. I have had the 240 fan blues, is this fan replacement that hard?

Not only do the vacuum lines that go to the turbo intake line near the firewall need cleaning, it sounds like the oil trap is clogged and that requires removal of the exhaust manifold. Not a fun job, but DIY possible. FCP has a kit for this and you will need a manifold gasket. Good time to replace the injector seals also.
Look at the rear main seal closely, any oil there and you are talking major bucks.

From what you describe, I would walk away already. However, on turbo models there is a common hose failure that causes a leak. I don't own the turbo model, but only going by what I have read here. Others may be of more help. The oil backing up the dip stick suggests a build up of pressure, however the rear engine seal usually fails as a result. Regarding the fan motor. There is a fan motor relay that is known to fail which results in losing the higher speeds. Is this possibly the problem?
