850 clock lights 850

does anybiody out there know how to change the lightbulb on the 850 clock/thermometer? I pretty know it at least involves lifting the dashboard up.

Those are two small "micro" bulbs you can get for $1.98 at radio shack. While the cluster is out also replace the other larger bulbs, they look like bulbs for an outdoor lighting system (12V 5W, I think). The wattage is in the owner's manual.
You will be happier if you wait until the outside temp is very warm, it makes the vinyl more flexable.

Yes you have to lift the dashboard and remove the instrument cluster. There are excellent instructions on Bay 13 at volvospeed.com: http://www.volvospeed.com/Dashremove.php

The higher you can lift up the dash, the easier it will be to get the cluster out and in without scratching it. For me, a 20oz coke bottle was just the right size for propping up the dash on the left side. That way you have your hands free for the rest of tehe job. The dash wasn't damaged by that, but in cold weather it may be less pliable.

Overall its an easy job, just take your time to avaoid scratches on the face of the cluster.
