My Etm failed like it was designed to it seems. The fix was not what I had hoped it was, they updated the software for it and it works. I don`t understand this though but it went to 96500 miles. I am not mad at volvo for this, I knew it would fail before I bought the car. Its just a work car anyway.

    The new SW probably handles rough potentiometer signals better. That will hide the problem for a while and postpone the final breakdown.. You will probably get new chance soon ;-)

      Erik, when the updates were done on the ETM,did the the tech place a yellow sticker on the ETM..i was told that the old ETM have a white sticker and the ones Volvo have reworked/replaced have a yellow sticker..i have a 01 S80 and i have the yellow sticker , which was there when i purchased the car last year with 56K...
