Replacing my SC-813 radio with a SC-815 - Will it work? S70 1998

I was wondering in some one could help out with this question. I have a 98 S-70 with the original SC-813 stereo, which does not have a CD player. I noticed that I could pick up a used SC-815 on ebay for about $160.

Before I buy a SC-815 and disconnect my radio, I was wondering if the exchange is a straight forward job or is the connection on the back different from one radio to the other. The two radios seem to be the same size and dimension.

Looking forward to your replies.

Cheers

I had to check the owners manual. The SC813 is the base radio. The SC-816 (six, not five) is the one with a single cd player. And the SC816 is plug and play.
Just make sure that the theft code is supplied, otherwise it is useless!
You can also get a replacement from the dealer for ~$225. No shipping cost.

All the SC-family stock stereos have the same basic connection. Some have more (such as an input for a secondary antenna), but whether made by Matsushita or Alpine, you have all the basic functions. Plug and play.

I replaced the original, bottom-of-the-line Matsushita-built SC-710 in our '97 850 with a top-of-the-line Alpine-built SC-901 from a '99 C70 two years ago... works perfectly.

YES, it will work....read on. S70 1998

look around...seen a couple of people on Swedespeed.com and volvospeed.com selling SC-816's. These are decent units. Just make sure they have the radio code.
