Hood Latch Sticking on 98 S70 S70

The driver's side latch does not release on my hood most of the time. The dealer says it is not adjustable. I have noticed this on other S70s, so it must be a common problem. Is there any way to fix this short of replacing the entire latch and cable assembly?

I'd say the S and the V are no different in the hood area. This was discussed fairly extensively over on the swedespeed. Here is what was said:

Thanks again. I did adjust the latch as far down vertically as it could go and that seems to fix the problem. So far, so good.
