Purge Valve replacement S70

I'm trying to located the correct purge valve for a '98 S70 non turbo. I see a square metal valve with 127039 stamped on the casing. FCP sent me a purge valve that is for the 1998 only cars. It looks totally different and is part number 280142300.

I'm wondering if I'm not looking in the right location for this valve. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks,
Dave

I was looking at the wrong part. I didn't realize that the purge valve was under the fresh air intake hose. This ' 98 had the '99 and up purge valve (according to FCP's site). I changed it with one that I bought at the dealer and the check engine light hasn't came back on since. Hope it's okay now.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Can you explain: valve to purge what?

It's something to do with the fuel system vapors from the tank. That's my understanding anyway.

Do you mean the EVAP Canister?
Will need the last 6 digits (chasis #) of your VIN to match up exactly what you need.

Yes, the EVAP cannister. I can't remember the exact code that I was getting. The new valve from the dealer cost me $22 at my discounted price. I installed it and cleared the code. Seems to be working just fine. No more CEL.

Neither of the numbers you posted come up as valid Volvo part numbers when I put them in my parts program.

Hmm...If I took a picture, could you ID the valve that I'm thinking is the purge valve? I'm not sure how to post pics.

      Thanks,
      Dave
