Rear Wiped Only works when Hatch is open V70-XC70

I am having a strange proplem with my 99 V70. The rear wiper will only operated when the hatch is open . I removed the trim and found when I shake the wiring that is under the trim near the hatch hinge I can get the wiper to operate. Any Ideas what to look for or how to correc the porblem Thanks

You obviously have a short where the wires bend. Probably a bad wire that's actually broken. Find it, splice it and tape it...even solder the two ends of the wire together before taping it. This should get you back in business...easy, and cheap fix!
