850 A/C Please help before shop takes all my money 850 1995

I have a 95 855T w/ approx 130K. Around 3 years ago the A/C started blowing warm and I could hear the compressor cycling on/off rapidly. Took the car to Volvo dealership and a recharge was the fix.

Car presented in the exact same way this past week and I may have made the mistake of trying to save a few bucks. I took it to a "Precision Tune" shop and I am hopeful that I won't regret it.

Shop refilled the A/C system but says that they now cannot get the "compressor to engage" and they are going to have to read up on how to "reset the A/C system". This was Saturday at the end of the day and they are planning to dive back in Monday. Does this make sense to anybody? Is there anything that I could recommend to the shop that they do, or should I kindly collect my car and take it to the Volvo dealership (probably should have in the first place)

I would appreciate any insight.

Get your car out of there before it is a total wreck! "reset the AC system"??? Beware of all "chain" service outlets. If you want to save money, find a local AC shop that has been in business for a number of years. They have the experience and knowledge and reputation to up hold.
I wonder what Precision did to turn off the AC? Unplugged the sensors? There is no reset button.

Klaus pretty much hit the nail on the head. I would recommend a reputable Volvo Indy shop over an a/c shop though. But whatever you do I recommend you get the heck out of where you are at now. They "need to read up" translates to "we have no idea what the hell we are doing but we would really like it if you would pay us to learn how to work on your car". Learning curves are expensive and there is no reason you should have to pay someone to go to school on your car.
