Gremlins in Brake system V70-XC70

I have braking problem I have never experienced. When braking gently very on a long stop occasionally I sense the brake pedal actually pulling itself down toward the floor. Even more rarely, when this occurs there is a grinding noise just before I stop. I have checked the pads, which are due to be replaced soon but still have life in them The brake fluid level is ok. Volvo pads on Zimmerman rotors about 27K on both. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks to all

    - Check to be sure there is no air in the system, bleed the entire system first.
    - Pedal sinking to floor is a dangerous condition:
    a. air in system or
    b. failure of Master Cylinder. autohausaz.com sells ATE (OEM for Volvo) for $125.00

My car is identical to yours and I do not have any problem yet, the MC in this car lasts along time, so I still suspect air.

    So:
    - Change your pads/rotors whatever you plan to do, then take the opportunity to bleed the ENTIRE system.

Grinding sounds are usually metal to metal. Your pads may be more worn than you think. Look for any scoring on the rotors and that should help you locate the problem. If the brake pedal starts gradually going to the floor, you may also need a new master brake cylinder. NAPA has rebuilt ones for about $210. Others have posted lower prices on this forum.
