vibration in the steering wheel when driving over 65mph..... 850

I should preface this with saying that the 850 is running Bilsteins(all the way around)/TME lowering springs/Voxx 17" wheels/Micheln 215/45/17s/IPD strut brace/Volvo camber kit.

My father is feeling a light vibration in the steering wheel when he is traveling over 65mph on asphalt, while driving on concrete the vibration is more pronounced. After assuring me that he didn't think the vibration was coming from the stiffened springs/bigger wheels/less tire rubber(as compared to the stock tire) absorbing energy, I went to work(with my mechanic) trying to ascertain what the issue could be. Both end links were replaced, the shock/strut mounts were checked, the tie rod ends are less than 2 years old, the wheel bearings are good, and everything in the suspension seems nice and tight.

The car was in for an alignment less then 1k ago, and at the time had all the wheels balanced. When I was washing the car a few days back I noticed that the weights had come off the front passenger wheel, so back I went to Big O', and ten minutes later the wheel was balanced(w/ new weights). Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I thought the "big O" was...well never mind. Is it possible one of the tires has an internal defect?

Sounds like a wheel balance issue. I would be tempted to go somewhere else and see if the wheels are really balanced. If not, quit taking your car to the "Big-0"

Jiffy Lube tries to replace at least an air filter on every car they work on, in my opinion.

I had a 2001 Impala on a corporate lease thru Enterprise. At 6k miles my regular mechanic was not able to do an oil change when I needed it done. Jiffy Lube had a national account with Enterprise.

When the car was done, I found that they had called Enterprise and got approval to change the air filter, add transaxle fluid, add coolant. Transaxle fluid and coolant were just below the full mark. This is the way the dealer delivered the car to me and neither would have needed a 1/4 cup of fluid to reach the full mark. Neither were leaking.

The car was 2 months old, getting its 2nd oil change, and they get $80.

On another company car, an Isuzu Rodeo, a Jiffy Lube Manager told me the vehicle had a skid plate under the oil filter. He said they would remove it, but they would not reinstall it, and if the vehicle came back in with the plate installed they would not do the oil change. Another company changed the oil with no issues, they said the skid plate was simply 4 bolts in the corners, and no issue for them to remove and reinstall.

I do not know how they stay in business, most people I know, that have been to them, feel like they were ripped off, and swear they won't go back.

Thanks MadeinJapan! Once the steering rack is installed(on Tuesday), I am taking the car back to Big O', and will give them one more chance to make it right. I will report back with my findings. Have a most splendid weekend :)

Someone else posted on another board...could be a bent rim. Even slightly so on the front can cause the vibrations you describe. Have them check out how true the wheel is while they're at it. Good luck and have a nice day!
