gentlemen, i dont have any reason to schedule an autopsy at this time, so cause of death might remain unknown for a considerable period of time. the cemetary, i mean junkyard, has just added one casualty to its existing 300 members. albert, i tow a 4x8 box trailer, about a ton when full, never had snows on and i never got pushed around. never even fishtailed once in 7 winters. amazing. japan, i dont like the way the v70 looks, i much prefer the xc. klaus i am very disappointed in you. i heard that you had no bread with your lasagna the other night. eat more bread.

Darn! I was hoping you would have hit 1MM. This is most distressful, down right discouraging. Sounds like a valve went?

The 2002 XC is a nice car, the milage is a bit less than a 2 wheel driver but winter is much more fun and reliable, especially on slippery hills.

If I eat any more bread I will have to get heavy duty springs on the left side of my V70!

Good luck,

Klaus

An XC70 has the same towing recommendation as the V70 (1500 kg), 1600 kg Europe(!), but it's heavier, meaning that it will use more power moving the car, and taller, meaning that the trailer can get more leverage over it and possibly push it around more. How much trailer are you pulling? (length, height, loaded weight)

For on-road use, an S60 or V70 (fwd) is probably a more stable, reliable, and economical car. If traction is sometimes a problem, e.g. while pulling the loaded bread trailer on snow, a weight-distributing set-up might be a solution. If you need to find someone to build you a Class 3 hitch, let me know. I have one on my car.

Well, my sympathies on the boomed-out 850. Like the other poster, I'm curious of the actual results of the engine failure. Now my opinion on the XC...why do you want an XC anyway? Why not just go with a V70? You're going to be on the road right?, not off-road. V70's even for '02 are much more reliable than the XC's in my opinion.

Tell us what was the part that failed. I have 1994 850 with 322,000 miles.

My condolences. It was a good long run, though. What was the actual cause of death?
