2001 V70 T5 tires Pirelli P6 1) diff tire recommendations 2) Tire rack worthwhile?

I got 50K miles first set, 45K second set, paid less than $600/4. I like the ride and handling.
Tire Kingdom wants ~ $800 for 4 this time

1) Tirerack.com wants ~ $90 tire. I believe would need to pay for road hazard
(how does that work with their plan). What other costs do I need to
consider to compare apples to apples as where to buy?

2) Other tire recommendations this car to replace Pirelli's?

I have also used TireRack several times without issue. I've also had good luck with tyres1.com but I'm pretty sure you won't like what they have to offer your Volvo. :-) I haven't heard good things about the P6's. I was looking at the Bridgestone Potenza G009 for my car. The Avons also get high marks.

I would highly recommend the Bridgeston Turanza LS-H or LSV. I've had both, first on the 850 (H rated) and now on our '04 V70 (V rated). Others will chime in. Btw, a great tire from what I've heard and fantastic price are the Avon's. You'll find ratings and owner reviews on tirerack as well.

Most tire dealers mount the tires for free and charge to balance them.

To get Apples to Apples, you would need to take TireRack price, add shipping, figure out any sales tax differences, add mounting fees, figure out road hazard warranty differences (I usually do not buy this insurance), consider any differences in balancing, disposal fees, alignment costs, etc.

Sometimes it does not equal any great savings, but I can get better selection of tires at good prices, and good advice. Shipping (to you or drop ship to the installer) and installation has gone smoothly for me in the past.

I put BF Goodrich's from Sam's Club on the XC. It was easy, I have a national retailer for warranty work (it was included). They had good equipment, coated weights, etc.

I use Tirerack all the time and they are very fast and reliable. I just have them dropped shipped to a place that mounts the tires for me (that they recommended). Not sure how their road hazard works because I've never had to return a tire. I highly recommend the Tirerack.
