Airbag light S40-V40 2001

The airbag (SRS) light came on today on my wife's 2001 S40. The only thing I have done to it lately was have the tires rotated and balanced and I replaced the 3 lights in the heater/ac control panel. The car has 102k miles on it. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    It will come on after 10 (?) years when it is time to replace the air bags (or so I'm told). It will also come on when it fails the airbag check performed at ignition turn on (this I know). Definately have to take it to the dealer to get checked out.

      B.S. that it will come on after 10 years. No other Volvo's have. It will come on if there is a problem with the system...somehow disconnected, like from working in the dash or from the very fragile wiring breaking inside the steering wheel (850's are notorious for this) when it gets old and the movement of the steering wheel unraveling it and winding it back up as you make turns. Agree it's a dealer item and rightly so...a huge saftey issue because while the light is on the airbags won't deploy if you're in an accident.
