Window lift switch not workling S70 1998

The window lift went down but will not go up----these are sealed switches--any repairs or is this a total replacement item? Shudder $$$$$$!!!

Look on ebay...pretty common actually. Expect to pay a bit over $100 for these. They pop out, you disconnect the connectors and then reinstall in the reverse order. Sometimes contacts get corroded so you might be able to get the old one working but most of the time it takes a replacement.

Thanks. I did take it apart and cleaned it. Also used some emery cloth on the contacts, but believe a new one is in order. Had to clean the contacts twice to get it working reliably. Sure is different from the 2, 7 and 9 series and even from our 94 850.

Dick,
I wouldn't bother getting a "new" one. The master switch can be cleaned multiple times and a new one costs too much and will only last until the first rain storm with the window down!

I tried cleaning the switch but no luck. The switch makes a cliking noise and I believe the relay is toast. There was also a depression in the switch where the contact is made. I even tried putting some solder to fill the depression but still no good it only worked enough to get the windows up. Well the one is almost up but the others are up. Luckily enough the dealer gave me a deal on the new one so it cost just over $150 canadian plus taxes of course. The part number has been changed so with any luck they have fixed this problem.

Thanks Klaus. I cleaned up the contacts and all is well although I did order a new one----to my door $139, so could be worse.
