2000 S80 t6 ac problems S80 2000

Imagine this, yet ANOTHER problem with my s80. This time it is a problem with the ac, the car is not cooling at all and I need to know where the connections for the refrigerant are located. I see a large nipple up front on the passenger side but I don't think that is the low pressure side since my guages will only connect via the high pressure guage. The compressor engages and the air tries to cool but it gets nowhere and where the heck is the in cabin air filter. Any help would be most appreciated.

Okay so after a no joy here on the forum and my lack of patience I finally found the low pressure nipple. Boy is that thing a @#%%$^% to get at! I will let you guys know if the recharge of freon 134a works.

High side access is through a hole in a plate near the top of the radiator - sounds like you found that one.

Low side is located between the timing belt cover and the radiator reservoir on the passenger side. The reservior can lift off slightly, to provide (slightly) easier access - though it's still a real pain to get connected. Suggest you make the connection with the engine OFF since pressure against the timing cover will cause it to flex slightly and rub against the moving timing belt inside. also advise you connect when the engine is cool since it's no fun to connect while everything is hot.

      Best of luck

      2000 S80 t6 ac problems S80 2000

So it has been a while, I have been busy. Well checking the low pressure I was getting around 70 psi, or whatever unit that stuff is measured in, which made me think that this was too high. I let some out til it dropped to 60 units and the ac got cooler. So I began letting more out in smaller increments and the ac got cooler and cooler but still not as cool as it should be. Highway speeds help but still not cool. Any suggestions other than unloading this turd of a car?

Checking back in. I broke down and took the car to my mechanic who just shook his head as I pulled in, not a good sign. He had a look at the ac and checked the pressures which were off on both the high and low side. He had plenty to offer but none of which helped my wallet. Basically there is something wrong with the circulation of the coolant but there is no way of checking without replacing parts and coolant. The cheapest offer was around $300 to change the expansion valve and refill the system. If that did not work it is on to the dryer for another $200-$300. If that did not work, replace the compressor for upwards of $1000. So what do you do?
