service light reset 1996 850 850

How do you reset the service light, check codes for climate control, and ABS. I have an obd reader but it only does check engine and emission stuff. Tell me what I need to buy that does this. Please Rick

There are a couple low tech ( aka cheap) methods for dealing with the service light if you don't want to spend $80. to $150. for a gizmo that has one use. Remove the bulb (free) or go to Home Depot and buy a roll of electrician tape (~$1.00) and cut a small square and stick it over the light. Alex Peper's software will also reset the light on 96-97 850's

You need a Draper tool.

Hi Mike,
I see I can purchase this tool in England for £38 ($72). Question is, apart from resetting the service light, does it show diagnostics or anything like that (no info on toolmix webpage)?
Cheers
Andy

Do a search for VOL-FCR software. Runs off a laptop and does all that you need. In fact, you can download a demo to see if it will work the way you want. It will, but you will also need a OBD-2 compliant interface cable as well.

For the other codes you'll need a Tech2 or the factory Volvo Scantool. Big bucks either way.

Mike
