oxygen sensor 850

My Oxygen sensor needs to be replaced. Is it a project I can take on myself with common tools, or do I need to let my mechanic do it? I'm in a not emmissions county, but when you smell the sulfur/fumes, it's time to replace it regardless.

Are you getting any codes or lights on the dash?

IMHO,
while not all that difficult for replacing both, make sure you need to do it.

Also, get the correct parts - avoid the bosch generics.....likely to run you $300

I wouldn't replace it unless there were error codes on the computer. First check for vacuum leaks at the elbows, the most common problem. Then, switch gas station brands, some have lower sulphur than others. Here in MN, I only use Holiday stations because Koch (the refiner) went to low sulphur about 8 years ago. Much nicer for my cat converter!
Check IPDs web site, the tool to get the O2 sensor off can be a pain if it isn't the right one. Also, depending on the year, you may have to buy an additional wiring harness to connect it properly.
