Anenna stuck in upward position 850

My antenna is stuck in the upward postion. When i turn on the car, i hear the motor for the antenna, when I turn off the car, I don't hear anything. Do you think I need another antenna mast or is it something else.

Sounds like the plastic on the mast is broken. Best way to find out is to pull the mast out and see if the end is tapered. If not, there is more plastic inside the shaft which needs to come out before installing a new mast.
