New Avon Tires, Tirerack, MPG (?)

I recently got new Avon Tires from TireRack after 2 sets Pirelli P6's

My MPG may have dropped ~ 1.5 MPG. Might have improved after bumping PSI to 35
from lower at install.

Is this unusual or should I look into further? Increase PSI?

I must say, the TireRack experience was smooth and simple. Oscar was very helpful. Time from hanging up till drive away from local "speed/tire" shop their list was ~ 32 hrs.

I'm pleased with the tires/ride otherwise.

Wonder how many miles likely to get from them. Got 45-50K both sets Pirelli's
(Which I liked fine, got recent bad reviews curiously)

Rolling resistance does vary between tires, but 1.5 MPG sounds like a bigger than normal change. The P6 is hardly a rock hard MPG oriented tire. Check again now that you have the pressure adjusted.

BTW, Avon is now simply one of the brands Cooper puts on tires. Cooper bought the Avon company some time ago.

Softer compound tires with smaller tread block will cost about 2mpg over hard compound, large block, noisy tires.
