2000 S70 transmission fluid source S70

I have a 2000 S70 with a 5-speed manual transmission. What is the proper transmission fluid for this tranny? Any sources other than the dealer? Searched the archive, but couldn't find any info. I'm still getting used to this S70 after having a 240 for 18 years.

Thanks.

2000 S70 transmission fluid - Part no. 1161645 S70

Bravo, finally, a manual transmission driver! As of Oct. 2003, the correct manual transmission fluid was Volvo Part 1161645. You will need to order three bottles. There was a different part number earlier, but I am not sure why it changed.

Thanks for the response. I was hoping for an aftermarket product, but if the dealer is the only solution than that will have to do. How often do you change it? BTW, my 245DL was a manual tranny too.

Regards.

2000 S70 transmission fluid - Part no. 1161645 S70

There probably is another supplier of the transmission fluid, but I don't know how to find it and be sure it is compatible. For the minimal cost, just get the stock Volvo product. As for timing, the owners manual is vague. I changed when the car was about 35,000 miles old. Now it is close to 60,000 and time for another change. My dealer in Jackson, MS, had never ordered any of this fluid before. But here, almost everyone (99+ percent of customers) bought wimpomatics, so they have no experience with manual trans.
