i purchased my first volvo and love it. the previous owner gave me the transmitter for the keyless entry but it doesnt work. new battery installed, tried the on and off 5 times thing, still wont work.

i was told you have to turn the key on and off 5 times, wait for the light on the dash to come on then press the unlock on the transmitter to program. my light wont come on the dash. does anyone know where the reciever is located ??

I think that the location of the receiver is depending on the type of the alarm that in your car. My Volvo alarm is the basic type so the receiver is located on the right side of the glove compartment next to the passenger side fender. Mine is a black box with Green color connector.

On five times. off four times, then hit button. That programs the car to the transmitter.

more.... i think my problem is my light on the dash is not coming on after doing the key on and off thing. do u have any ideas ???

Do not count on the transceiver working. My 95 never did work since I bought it, the dealer told me it was the transceiver that was the problem. Look at OZbrick's site for some lengthy remarks, just remember that they are talking about right hand drive cars:
