XC 90 Won't Start XC90

My 2004 XC 90 FWD with $51K miles has thrice now failed to start.

First time was at $49K miles when after sitting for about an hour, the starter failed to turn over. Radio, etc all work, all fuses looked good. Towed to dealer and started right up the next morning. The car threw no codes leaving the techs befuddled. They guessed that I might have a bad battery cell.

I drove the car for another month and yesterday - same thing. No engine turn over, you hear the fuel pump (I think that's what it is) and all other electrical seems to work. The car was jumped and started right up.

I replaced the battery, ran the car for another hour and again, it failed to start.

I know this isn't much to go on, but any thoughts?

Thanks!

Kyle in Maryland, USA

Your car is under warrantee or was 50K the cutoff? You are right, very little to go on so that any answers are just pure speculation.
The dealer said that your 2 year old battery may have a bad cell? Did they not test the battery? Is it holding 12 volts? It needs just over 10 volts to run the starter.
Check the car and make sure all of the lights are off, including the glove compartment. Remove the cell phone from the charger. Buy a voltmeter at an auto parts store for $25 and check the battery voltage.
You put in a brand new battery, but was it fully charged?
