V70 Tailgate/hatch rust shield V70-XC70 1998

While having some bodywork done after crunching the side of my car on a truck bumper I had some recurrent rust on the right bottom of the hatch removed. The shop told me to get a plastic shield that goes on the bottom of the hatch and protects the metal from the water that pools there. Before I wade through traffic going from parts shop to shop, can anyone tell me what I'm looking for?

The best "rust shield" is a can of paste wax and elbow grease. Apply twice a year, Spring and Fall, and you will never have a rusty tailgate. Just raise the tailgate to eye level and wax all of the metal you can see.
It infuriates me to no end when I see perfectly good 245s with all of the paint rusted away because the owner fails to maintain his/her car. The cause of the rust is not water, it is neglect! Same for the bottom of the doors. And don't expect a "detailing" place to wax any areas of the car that are not readily viewed.
Covering the bottom of the tailgate with a strip of plastic will only trap water between it and the paint. It will rust even faster next time!

Never heard of it, but then again, don't, and have never owned your model car. I can tell you that it's not one of those things that is sold often...it's not listed readily, for instance on www.fcpgroton.com
