I would definitely get it...or a similar one. We did on our '04 V70, up to 100K miles when we bought the car. This was after experience with many expensive repairs on our '94 850 (but back then I didn't know about this or other Volvo forums). However, even knowing about these board, I feel like we made the best decision. With all of the computerized gadgetry on these cars and their complexities the warranty will probably pay for itself. I'm saying this because now Volvo doesn't repair parts (like we're used to doing on these boards), but instead, they take a bad part out and replace it completely with a new one from the codes that are read. They do this routinely, and don't seem to care if they get it wrong..."oh well, we'll try this part next," is their attitude. If you're not under warranty and you take your car to the dealer, you as the customer end up paying for all of these parts, and the labor to install them as well as remove them, and it is very expensive ($110 an hour for labor at my dealer). Also, a seemingly small part on the '01 and newer Volvo's costs a rediculous amount of money. By 100K miles, what will go wrong on your car probably will have already done so...also by then you will have learned enough about your car and hopefully your indy mechanic and others (maybe even us) will have access to a CAN bus and possibly even a Volvo specific code reader so we can do our own repairs. So here are my reasons...compelling or not.
