Rear shock rattle 850

The rear shock was rattling ,so I was going to put a couple of washers under the nut ,but then I noticed the cup the top of the shock fits into is about 1/2 in above the mount. Is this cup suppose to lay on the mount or do I need a new mount?

I would replace both rear shocks and mounts. Not terribly expensive and easy to do...
