service engine S40-V40 2001

my s 40 has a check engine light on. when we plugged into the computer the message was transmission control??? The mechanic took it for a test drive to make sure the tran was working properly. Everything seems to be wroking just fine ...it is goning thru the gears just fine. what else could cause this message....please help. going in to the garage on monday. need some input

    There are about 30 different error codes associated with the transmission, each one specific enough with a generic ford code reader to make diagnostics easy.
    The first thing to be done is to zero out the code and see if the same one comes back on. It probably is NOT inside your transmission, but the PNP switch or some other external gizzmo.

    He took it for a test drive but didn't read the codes?

    1998 S70 T5 Emarald Green Metallic (125K), 2004 V70 2.5T Ruby Red (45K), Previous Owner of Black '94 850 Turbo Wagon (Sold at 140K and miss her). My cars have been running so well lately they've got me worried.
