Fuel filter is located under the car, passenger side, just in front of the rear wheel, takes about 15mins todo the job, change filter every 60k, or sooner if you think you got some bad gas..if you are getting stall type symptoms,go for the ECM, it is warrant 10yrs/200k, free to you ,plus software updates..

Thanks KYVOLVO, for your reply.

I have one more question. As I walk past the car, after being driven and still hot, I get a wiff (brief smell) of gasoline. Have "nosed" around the car for quite a bit now but can't pin point the specfic area where the the wiff of gasoline is coming from. Once again, any advice and guidance would be appreciated

Morton

i am thinking maybe you have a bad carbon filter or loose lines to it...this carbon filter do the same job as the old charcoal can...it recirculates gas fumes from the tank to the filter to the gas rail and back...this carbon filter is located under the car between the trunk and rear seat dead center..take a long section of hose and use that as a sniffer tool ..be careful dont get TOO HI off this method...good luck and keep me posted...

Hi,KY, I used a section of hose to locate the smell of gasoline fumes which appears to eminate predominantly from the carbon filter area. How do I access the carbon filter etc. without having to take down the exhaust system?

Mort
