Question on sunroof safety measure and flametrap location..... S70 1999

I have a 99 S70 NA and while cruising down the interstate today, a fellow pulled up on my rear bumper very close and quick. I sped up and he did also. This continued until we were both at around 125 mph. At that time, I decided to roll up my windows and close my sunroof.(it was getting very loud inside) The windows went up fine, but the sunroof got almost all the way closed (from the sliding rear position) and then reversed itself fully when it was about 3 inches from the fully closed position.
As long as I held the forward button, it continued moving backward. tried it again at same speed, same effect. Slowed down to around 90 and it closed normally. Has operated normally for the rest of today as well. Is this a safety feature of the sunroof(to keep the pressure from damaging anything) or was it just a fluke? Now for my flame trap location question....Where is it. Upon arriving home, I smelled oil. Popped the hood and my dipstick was sticking up about 2 inches from the tube and the top of my engine was covered in oil. No damage done, but I know it has to be the flame trap that is not allowing the pressure to escape the engine at high speeds. any thoughts on the sunroof and any answers to the flame trap would be greatly appreciated. sorry for the long post.

Question on sunroof safety measure and flametrap location..... S70 1999

I appreciate your concern for my driving habits. I know it is not good to drive that fast, but I'm still young and feel the need to show an asshole up every once in a while! If my family is in the car with me, I will disregard other people on the interstate and let them have their way. I guess that if I act like them and drive too fast, then I am the fool! Anyway, thanks for giving me the location of the flame trap KlausC. I definately don't wanna blow my rear main seal. The guys (and girls) on this site have helped me out tremendously since joining this forum, and I appreciate that much more than I will ever be able to show. Thanks again for the info and advice!

Question on sunroof safety measure and flametrap location..... S70 1999

The air pressure at 100mph+ will cause enough drag to keep the sunroof from closing. At a sedate 85mph and a headwind of about 30mph, my sunroof would not slide back after dropping the rear edge down.
When someone gets on my bumper these days, I turn on my rear fog lights. The 850 has both of them working! I, too, used to do what you do. Then I learned that it is better to have the fool in front of me so I can watch him, rather than have him glued to my rear bumper. I have been know to hit the exit ramp and get right back on, just to let the fool get in front of me. Troopers tend to catch the rabbit and let the hound go right on by.

The flame trap is right next to the throttle body. If it still has a screen in it, throw it away. Ensure that the vacuum lines are clean inside. You do not want to blow the rear main seal.

Question on sunroof safety measure and flametrap location..... S70 1999

Well, I don't know about sunroof safety measures, but a safety measure you might consider is to not engage people like that on the road. If they want to go 125mph and experiment with their sunroofs, I would let them pass by. I know a bit about aggressive driving - did it for many many years. Been there, done that. Once an individual driving an AMC Roundabout (anyone old enough to remember that tank?) intentionally rammed my 280Z, sending it into a concrete curb and literally ripped the front wheel off. I tried chasing him, and made it a full 1/8 mile before I saw large plumes of smoke rising from the back of the car. The car did pull a bit, but I didn't know a wheel was gone. Actually it was under the passenger's seat sideways. I have done my own bit to annoy other drivers over the years, but I think in the end there is a higher power tallying things up. For me, when someone wags their gas pedal or finger, I generally no longer respond. YMMV
