I changed one on car with 125K original miles. T-belt looked brand new. It showed hardly any wear.

You were very lucky! Others have not been. Ask many of those who have had a timing belt break due to neglect of maitenance (which includes changing the TB on time, by the way).

I guess we hit the update button at the same time and the responses went arry.

The timing belt interval for 1999 -> is 105K miles, tensioner also needs to be replaced at the same time.

'West is the best' update 444-544

    Gentlemen:

Thought it only fair to update anyone who cares or knows about that island of 444s, 544s, 1800s, and 220s in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Also warious Hudsons, Buicks, Studebakers, etc from the early 50's. These are some cars that appear horrendously neglected at best, downright abused at worst. They all have at least a $15k price tag.

Well, I crawled around underneath some of the 444/544s and discovered brand new stainless 2" or greater exhausts, repainted and probably rebuilt B18/B20 engines, all new and/or refurbished suspension and brakes; upgrades in some cases...

Some wolves in sheep's clothing up there. My favorite is the red '65 544 that someone climbed up the back and jumed on the roof until it's flat, then hopped down on the hood and fender. That one looked like it had the best of everything underneath.

Nobody there again to explain things, but keep an eye out, this guy may have some really nice cars before long.
    Cheers,
    -Sean

'West is the best' update 444-544

        Hi George,
It goes back a several months in the 444/544 forum. There was a fellow who happened upon it and posted a few pictures under "the west is the best", you might find them in the gallery.
It's about an hour from where I live, when I'm up there shooting I stop by to shake my fist on occasion, and drool. I don't shoot digital, so I can't put any up of my own.
        Cheers,
        -Sean
